Replacing your Oster Classic 76 Housing
July 23, 2012
I dropped my Oster Classic 76 Clippers and broke off a piece of the housing. The clippers still worked fine so I ordered this housing for a DYS fix. It was easy to remove the old housing and innards then put everything back in the new one. There are YouTube videos to help one through the process. Note: The little silver round oiling valve ~1/4 inch in diameter near the blade end of the clippers is not included and you will have to break the old housing to salvage it but once you do it is just push it into the hole in the new housing. To remove and replace the components of the clippers it is easier if you have a special tool which is a retainer ring pliers. Otherwise no special tools required.
ProsExact match from the OEM and everything fit perfectly. Great price and quick delivery. Rather than replacing a fairly new expensive clipper...I fixed it in less than a half hour.
ConsDid not come with the oil valve installed. I had to break apart the old housing to retrieve the oil valve. Not really a dislike more my oversight on my part.
